Ultimate catch can!
06/04/14 at 19:37:00

Got my K&N RC-1250 today and ripped out the airbox (what a pain)

I had a breather filter that I purchased online earlier when messing with intake ideas

I had this little plastic piece that will catch all the oil (with me emptying it once in a while)

Check it out!

In the near future I'm getting a little battery and gonna relocate and shave/hide stuff, for now this will do.

Nice! I'd like to ditch my airbox too, so... what's involved and how much of a pain is it? I already have a KN filter, but it sits on top of the battery box scrunched against the airbox.

you need to pull your battery out and then remove 3 bolts and wiggle wigle wiggle, cuss cuss cuss :-D

Those filters are oiled, the K&N comes preoiled and the other filter is a different brand (thats why it looks brighter then the K&N)

Im gonna take the breather filter and run it underneath the seat to hide it
(Thought about it last night while laying in bed)

Thanks guys)

...then remove 3 bolts...

My K&N filter is here. I removed the battery and box. I've got 2 bolts off the air cleaner assembly. I'm wiggling, holding my just tongue right, but can't get it out.

Where is that third bolt? I found the two easy ones, #17 and #18. Is there one on the bottom somewhere, perhaps behind the belt guard, that the parts diagram doesn't show?

Somebody help me before I have to start cursing quoting Shakespeare...

Out, darned spot! out, I say! One; two: why, then, ’tis time to do ’t. Hell is murky! Fie, my lord, fie! ~Macbeth (Act V. Scene I)

Using the correct theological method, I did discover the trinity. That third bolt on the left side, with the belt guard in the way. I got whole air cleaner removed, after also removing the carb, and my K&N filter is installed finally.

Yay!

YAY indeed! Nothing is as easy as it looks in the diagrams.  Roll Eyes
I got my airbox and battery box out but I just got a new big battery, so I'm going to wait until it dies until I get a smaller one and do a "real" battery mod. For now it is just wedged into the air box space with a bracket to keep it from shifting.
