I just noticed that today on a ride. Maybe it was just me being a little tired or the road or something else but it felt strange. I didn't know if something could be out of alignment or anything.

But that's because I'm sliding. Usually over white lines or train tracks The suzy easily breaks traction when it's goosed around a slow bend, too.

Start at 36 psi in the rear (cold) and work up/down from there until you find what works best for you. Always use the same pressure gauge.

Increase your tire pressure. Tighten your shock mounts. Check your axle and swingarm pivot nuts. Check your shock preload settings. Check the headset tension. Lube the headset bearings and reset the preload. Check your tire condition (cracks, tread depth, pliability). Service the swingarm bushings.

Or just chalk it up to "eh, s*** happens" and go on your merry way. Doesn't take much to break out in a turn on a swingarm bike.

Had to cross a very busy state highway Saturday after a rain storm went through. Grabbed a handful of throttle, popped the clutch in first gear and went fishtailing across the road. Oil seeping out of the paving material from the heat, combined with a bit of left over rain water film... If the belt had been set to factory tension, Sam would have aired out the front tire... Cool

What do you think of those thing-a-ma-jigs? Do they help at all or just a waste of $? They were looking like they ran around $150+ (unless anyone knows of somewhere they are less expensive).

Actually, I think it was just me....you know being lazy and laying back when riding instead of sitting straight up and having my center of gravity where it needed to be. I've been playing with my handlebars moving them up a bit and that might have thrown me off, so I lowered them a little between where they were before and where I had them adjusted.

Yeah, it was the front wheel that felt like it was sliding. The tires are fine too.

I don't think a fork brace would do much for that...
Only thing I can think of is grippier tires...

PS.. here in dustown... you can get a build-up of fine dust on roads that is invisible, but slick...
I spun out the Sporty taking off on a patch a couple of months ago...
Looked real cool,. but I stained my shorts a little... Grin

Traveling at superslab speed slight changes in road height (cracks, grooves, paint stripes etc.) will really give you a ride and at times make you feel like you're about to go over. A fork brace will really stiffen up the forks and reduce the effect to a minimum.

You might also check your head bearings. If your grease has hardened up it'll make steering 'notchy'... you can't make smooth turns and going a straight line is difficult.

Well, I checked on the TKAT fork brace web site (http://www.tkat.com/forkbrace.html) and it doesn't show pricing. I've e-mailed them yesterday but haven't heard anything yet. For under $100, I'd try it out I think. Is there another web site you are looking at where they are under $100?
