Speedo cap
06/03/14 at 07:25:34

Anyone ever cap up the speedo port?  Im installing a GPS speedo and want to cap it up.

I may 3D print a cap for it, but Id rather have a metal one.  I havent messed with it much yet, but I figured Id ask in case someone has already monkey'd with it.

Actually some searching in Google (not the sites engines) found this info...

Id rather find a different solution, but I suppose this would work.

I have such a cap and I could share, but unfortunately I'm too far from you.

I made a stainless button to fit under the stock nut.  I just cut up an old cable and used the nut....the button was made from a stainless allen bolt that I trimmed to size on a lathe.  I put an O-ring under the metal cap to make it oil tight.

I don't have a great photo of it.....but you can see it in this photo.

The solution is at ACE hardware.
There's a brass gas fitting that fits it perfectly.
So the size and threads are common.
Probably something for a 3/8 line.

I just took a left over fitting and shoved a plastic cap in it.
I use it for washing the bike w/out the tank prior to engine work.

ACE people are more helpful than anywhere else.
I'd walk in there when the parking lot is empty and ask if you can try a few on the bike.

I love Ace. That one looks good Dave. Off to the hardware store to see what will either look cool or inconspicuous.
