Fork boots
05/30/14 at 08:27:50

Anyone have any better experience with the fork boots?  Ive been through 3 sets now and they just dont seem to hold up. 2 sets from Ryca and 1 off ebay.  So far they all seem to fall apart within 6 months of use.

Any better luck out there?

Its a major pita having to change them out with the spacer in the forks.

Nice! I assume they are universal and fit our 38mm tubes with no issues?

I got the DayStars as Serow suggested and they fit nicely with no issues.

Got a set of Daystar fork boots through Dennis Kirk. An always in stock item, made in the USA.

Most generic black fork boot sets are made in Taiwan by Emgo. Not UV stable, but I did get a year or better out of the ones I had on Pokey out in WA.

If you want colored fork boots, hit up the dirt bike section of the catalogs at Cycle Gear, Motorcycle Superstore, etc. Or just cheat and order a pair of shock/steering stabilizer boots from the Rancho Suspension catalog at the auto parts store... and you can get them in polyurethane based material that is UV/heat/cold/chemical impervious.

AHA! Glad you posted! I've been searching for you. I recall you used some plumbing clamp of some kind on the lower forks to hole your bracket and I can't find anyone around here who knows what I'm talking about. Can you post a close up and tell me where you got them? Thanks!

Sorry to the OP about this, but a bit off topic here. ToesNose where did you get your headlight? What does it look like when it's on?

Funny I racked my brain for months trying to come up with a solution to attach the fender struts.....and it was so simple once I got it LOL.

Yeah, sometimes the obvious isn't. I found a GT750 fender on ebay for 28.00, it's on the way.  Grin  I'll shop the plumbing supply house for the hanger and some copper pipe. You got some clean bends, did you fill them with sand first?
