Hi
have an savage -97
K&N panelfilter, 152,5 main and 50 pilot.
Dyna muffler

Runs good on idle and on small turn of the trottle, but no strength and will not accelerate as it should when I use more trottle.

Carb is cleaned, spacer replaced with 2 thinner, half the height.

Could it be a broken diafragm?

Could be that,... or it's sticking...
You need to go in and clean again...

had the same problem when i bought it a few months ago, making a bobber out of it and done some improvements during this time, cam chain adjuster and cleaning the carb as a mentioned before.

the main in the carb was 125 or 135, hard to read.. so I was not expecting the same now with 152,5  Angry

As I have modified the bike to a bobber, it has not been on the road since I cleaned the carb, 2-3 months
Seems like it does not stick..

Beeing from Sweden, english is not my native tounge... but now I can see that my thread title can be misunderstood  Grin

I have almost the exact same set up, muffler, filter, shims, jets etc. and my bike runs great.  I have a 152.5 and 52.5, so don't think it is the main.

could it be a ignition failure, like the coil?

I wouldnt go chasing an electrical issue just yet. It sounds like a carburetor thing,,
I would probably pull the air tube off the carb so I could see the slide, get a mirror & watch it. If its not going up, maybe you did bust the rubber, or maybe didnt get it installed right, or maybe left fingerprints on the slide & its sticking. Its gotta be clean & dry, no oil, not even fingerprints,,

If you had the slide/diaphragm out recently, then you should pull it out again and check to see if the edge of the diaphragm is pinched and/or out of the groove of the carb body, which would allow an air leak, and that would prevent it from operating correctly...thus NO-GO when you crank the throttle.
Trust me; I've done it before.

It sounds very much like a carb problem... either the slide or the main...

Pulled it out again, found no marks that indicate pinching, mounted correct in the groove also.
The lid seems straight and should make a good seal.

I changed the petcock to a raptor earlier and plugged the carb, can it be an issue?

Is there a way to check if the slide lifts ok when the carb is off the bike?

Just so you know, I bought the bike a couple of months ago and it had this problem.
Gambled and thouht it would help to clean the carb change the jets, airfilter and fresh gasoline...

If you didn't plug the vacuum hole in the carb, it might have been a problem, but you did plug it so cross that one off the list. Undecided

Let's say theoretically that he NEEDS a 150 main.  A 152.5 wouldn't be that big of a deal, would it?  Especially with a K&N and a Dyna...
