Handlebar and riser are different. MOST Savages have buckhorns in short risers, S40 and early LS650 have tall risers and a drag bar. The windshield "may" hit the brake master cylinder or interfere with the brake and clutch levers. Most owners are rather lazy, they just bolt the screen on and go instead of taking time to adjust the height and the angle.
If the windshield isn't nearly vertical, it was a waste of money to buy and install. If it is lower than your shoulders (really should end at an inch or two below your nose when seated upright and installed correctly) it was a waste of time and money.
Any windshield you order needs to have the 7" half moon type headlight notch so you get a smaller air gap. If available, get one in a dark lower color, I use gradient black Memphis Shades, cuts the sun glare off the chrome headlight shell.
Sit on the bike like you were riding it. Have someone hold a yard stick straight out from your nose, and then have them measure from the yard stick to the top of the headlight shell. Subtract 1/2" for the desired air gap and round off to the closest whole number. That is the height you need to be properly effective.
