Move turn signal lights?
05/15/14 at 18:54:51
The viking bags I ordered finally arrived today. It's clear that, in order to install these, I will have to remove the turn signal lights.
Anyway, before I give up, I thought I'd see if anyone knows of a way to move the turn signal lights rearward, or else some kind of aftermarket turn signal light kit that attaches to the back of the bags.

I added a pair of these to my ammo can saddle bags. They were easy to install. Just had to drill a hole in the back of the bags. Flush mount turn signals from amazon, $15.00 plus shipping

Thanks. I actually did use the search feature but came up empty. I guess I don't know the right keywords.

It seems like all the links to the kits for moving the lights are broken. Maybe I'm overlooking something. Meanwhile, I did a google search (using the nifty new keywords I just learned) and came across this kit:

Any reason you can think of this would not work for a 2012 S40?

When you do the search, make sure you select more than a "week" for your search... do a "year".... you will get tons more posts
I moved mine to the license plate bracket using an old under the dash radio bracket (cb) and some cheapo chrome led blinkers.
I will make a video of it tomorrow but here is one where I show you the led bulbs in my tour pack and the blinkers working without the electronic flasher installed.... still have to rewire it in.

I got the chrome version of these

L brackets and extended wiring, run under the seat. Work fine. Have replaced the little bitty amber lights with 1.5" red run/turn, been too lazy to take a picture...
Right now it is 0125 hours, sitting here shivering and drinking coffee, got caught in a cold front down pour on the way home. In summer gear...

Before I added hard bags (that I added the aftermarket flush mount signals) I moved the signals to the license plate. All I did was added a bent metal strap to the back of the license plate bracket. Here's a few pics of that.

I ordered that kit I linked above for moving the lights. My mechanic is going to move the lights for me and install the bags and grips I got. Yay!

Can you post a couple pics of you bike? I'm thinking of ammo can bags! It looks cool... I hadn't thought of putting the lights on the cans. Nice!

I'm deciding on where to move my rear turns to as well. I have ammo can bags so i figured id post that for you as well, just added a small one to the sissy bar that I don't have a pic of yet though.
I do need to get some newer pics with them painted and such. This page has some pics of how i did it.

Gridmonkey, Very cool! I'm inspired! I'll have to check my local Army surplus store for one. Thanks!

Here's one. After I took this pic I moved the cans a little more to the rear so they would clear the shocks. When I was getting ready to sell the bike I repainted it(the bike) back to white so that it would appeal to more buyers but the new owner asked if I could paint it back to olive drab because she loved the look. so I repainted it(I had plenty of olive drab paint on hand)
Here's one with the bike loaded on the truck ready to head south for the 2012 tail of the dragon trip
