Alright I just glass packed my shorty exhaust and I have a new air filter coming in the mail. It's a cone but it has an angled boot so hopefully it will work out.

I'll be testing her out with the new glass pack in just a bit I'll fill ya in shortly on the shorty

As someone really smart on the list said somewhere, "You tune it to run, not stop". I live with my pops and poots on shifting, stopping and decel because it RUNS great. By the way, on shut down, I pull the choke all the way out and it dies without the POOT! Quit while you are ahead....  Wink

Its actually running tighter and a bit better with the glass pack. Still popping on decel only not half as loud now. So at least its variable.
I still look forward to the new filter because with the way I have it now bugs are the only thing not going into the engine.

Mine was steadily, loudly, obnoxiously backfiring on decel with the stock exhaust,, It was not at all pleasant, But, once I got it all tuned, jetted, the Supertrapp on it, it got to sounding good. It growled & grumbled, but it wasnt like Bang, pow, pow,, Bang,, If yours is making a lot of racket,, look for a leak or maybe its just not tuned right, but if its just growling & grumbling, thats normal,, & I think it sounds great,,

Mine goes off like a .30-06.  I rather enjoy watching the hood rats dive for cover when I chop the throttle shut...
