http://liliputing.com/2014/05/archos-launches-170-android-laptop-arcbook.html

"While it runs an operating system designed for phones and tablets, the ArcBook is a Google certified device, complete with access to the Google Play Store. It comes preloaded with Office Suite Pro 6, but you should be able to install other office and productivity apps, web browsers, or other software that you’d expect to use on a notebook… although if you expect Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, or other Windows apps, you’ll probably be better off buying a cheap Windows tablet or notebook.

But while prices for cheap Windows computers seem to be getting lower and lower, it’s still tough to find a $170 Windows notebook that offers all-day battery life.

This isn’t the first 10 inch Android notebook to hit the market… but surprisingly enough, it looks like one of the best options to date. That might not be true for much longer though… HP is expected to launch a 14 inch Android notebook featuring an NVIDIA Tegra processor soon."

Watch the birdie boys and girls ..... as Google puts new functionality out there in Chrome it shows up in Android a month or two later.   And vice versa.

What folks are starting to realize is that Android is getting closer to being a full function OS now --- able to run quickly on next to nothing for processor, memory, etc. compared to the other choices.

And, as everyone else rushes and busts their butts to get to convergence, Android is already sitting there at complete convergence already.
From wrist watch to bedroom clock to toaster oven to washing machine to stero system to TV to camera to tablet to phone to laptop -- Android is already sitting there.

There are multi-user windowing versions of Android in the orient now, but Google still hasn't co-opted that level of windowing functionality yet as a stock released feature.

Is Android going to be the one ???

We no longer ask if Google is going to put Chrome and Android together eventually, the two separate products are each simply sharing features with each other quicker and quicker and quicker.

The Orient has already decided on Android as their favorite OS and we in the west are just getting the backflush from the products they are building for themselves.   You could say the rapid development of Android is now being driven by the Chinese and then selectively formally adopted by Google as the pieces prove out as worthy.

For example, this little laptop.  Archos is just the rebranding and reselling an existing Chinese laptop product.  The Android on it is a Chinese tweeked older version.

The Chinese have already put full windowing capability and multiple log ins and all the other full OS stuff into some of their home grown Androids for well over a year now.

Cheesy

Following on to these thoughts, here is some research on Android and China that is worth reading.

Follow it with this on Baidu, the Chinese Google that is now bigger than Google is and is growing at 300% per year.

And after making very public and very formal tow kow and public abject apologies, Apple is finally provisionally allowed entry into the Chinese Phone market.

I will be looking into a lot of the apps after I get my new lenses put into the frames I had to get.

Frames $238 shipped
Custom lenses-- anywhere from $550 to about $760 depending on what I get, progressive, tinting, scratch proof ect.............
