Rear axel bolt

Just wondering, when reinstaling the wheel, should I grease the rear axel bolt and if so what kind of grease should I use?

You can put some anti seize on the threads. The bearings are sealed & greased, so, gooping up the axle wont help them.

Install is much easier with the axle greased. And the entire rear whee; assembly will be more quiet. The sealed wheel bearings are not perfect, sometimes they make noise or have tight spots. The grease will let them slip instead of stick. It also helps prevent rust... and the axle will rust eventually without it.

Yep, I apply a very light coating of grease to the axle.  A paper towel with some grease on it....then wipe it on the axle in a thin coat.

As WD says it helps with the installation.....and stops corrosion so you can be the axle back out again a few years later when that tire is worn out.

I must wear-out tires too quick,
I never have a stuck axle, and it's humid here  Undecided
