Fat Front tire?

This picture was posted in the Cafe. It looks like stock rim and forks. Any idea how to get a fat front tire like that? LUUUV it!

Sorry, dude,, Ive got no idea how to get such a tar,, I DO, however, have one question.

How do you like the nimble feel of the bike, as is?

The stock tires are fine. I don't ride like a bat out of heck, so I'm sure I wouldn't notice the difference between tires unless it was REALLY "off". I just like the look of the fat front tire. But I gotta say, after bobbing my first one I do like having a front fender and not getting sprayed with mud going through a gutter....  Wink

From Google translate it looks like the front tire is a Metzler 130-80-15 and rear tire is 140-80-15.

Well,, if youre not out there playing in corners seeing if today you can manage another 2 MPH on the exit & youre generally just loafing, not dragging pegs, then a wide Ol tar just mite do ya fine,, You can PUT a fender on it,, you mite hafta find a rear fender off something & do some hackin & jackin,,but, hey,, save it for winter,, I would probably get tire dimensions & find out exactly what youre gonna need to do to get it on the bike, then get a fender & work it out, then, get the tire.. cuz I KNOW I dont wanna ride w/o a front fender,, especially behind such a wide muck chucker.

Well... I live in Phoenix, so the worst water I ride through is through a curb in my neighborhood when someone is draining their pool. Though I do recall hitting a patch of two foot wide inch deep water on a main street once when a sprinkler head broke near the sidewalk.  No matter... Wink it still didn't look good when I arrived where I was going.

Hey S-P

Actually, it was the previous owner who did most of the work on this bike.. What he did was lacing a stock rear rim to the front hub -

Here's a link to both his bike, and project gallery of the bike - let me know if you are able to view the pictures, and if you have any questions, I can try and write him a message.

S-P:

If you want to try that.....it would not be too hard if you can lace a wheel....sorta.

Front hubs are readily available.....$ 20 - $ 30 shipped on eBay.

Rear rims are readily available from anyone doing a Cafe' conversion.  I gave my rear rim away....they aren't worth nuttin'.

One potential issue is the angle of the holes for the spoke nipples.  The rear wheel has a drum brake hub....the front is a spool for a disc brake.  The angles of the holes in the rim may not be ideal for just switching the rim to the front......the spoke angle on the rear rim is pretty severe.   You will also need a custom set of spokes that will run about $ 110.

This is a project you can work on with spare parts.....and you can still leave your bike together while you work on it.

That doesn't look like the stock rear rim (painted black) to me.  Doesn't it look like there is a rolled lip on the outside edge of the rim?
