Pilotjet with and whitout holes??

Went away to the local dealer to get a new pilotjet (size 50). He gave me the one with the holes at the picture. (The one whitout is a stock 47,5).
The guy is an auctorised Suzuki mechanic, and he ensured me that it should fit anyway. Still i do not feel realy good about this. Is there anyone how knows that i would work?? (I trust this forum more than i trust the dealer guys.)
I have a 55 pilotjet at the moment and it is to rich so i really want to try to back down two steps.

The bleed holes don't make any diffence on the Savage carb.....it will work the same. The CV carb on the Savage has an idle fuel screw and the bleed holes are not connected to anything.

The bleed holes are used on some carbs for adjusting the idle air mixture. The Mikuni roundslide carbs have idle air screws.....and when you are adjusting the idle air it changes how much air comes through the bleed holes and mixes with the fuel that is being metered through the pilot jet.

The easy way to tell the diffence between an idle fuel mix screw and an idle air mix screw.....is that if the screw is on the engine side of the slide (vacuum) it controls fuel flow - if the screw is on the air cleaner (inlet) side of the slide it controls air flow.

So.......the long answer is.....go ahead and use the pilot jet with the metering holes as the Savage carb doesn't care.

And if you want to see how the air holes are used...click on this link and notice on the 3rd page. The mixture screw is called an "air screw", and if you follow the route of the air to the cross secition on the right side of the page you will see the air enters the bleed holes in the side of the pilot jet...while the fuel is being pulled up into the bottom of the jet.

The CV carb doesn't work that way. The fuel is pulled up through the bottom of the piot jet, and the screw adust the fuel rate that will flow out the tiny hole on the engine side of the butterfly throttle plate.

I don't know how that is possible....the holes don't connect to anything when the pilot jet is on the CV carb. The carb casting is just a round smooth barrel around the pilot jet, and the fuel flows up through the bottom of the pilot jet, and the metering portion is at the top.

On the VM carb that area around the pilot jet has an air channel connected to the air screw....and air is metered into those holes.

When I had the O2 sensor on my bike I tried a pilot jet with and without bleed holes....and I could not see any difference.

I might see if I can find someone at Mikuni to straighten this out for us, as I have seen lots of other forums where the bleed holes are a source of controversy.
