Impressions with MAC muffler
04/02/14 at 16:50:21

Now that the warm weather is coming I'm starting to ride my bike everyday Smiley

I got a MAC Performance exhaust and gosh can it be loud, anyone know what decibels it gives out? It loud when I'm taking off but not too bad if I don't push it.
Its louder then a mac truck if I do push it, which I try not to...
I love when I'm decelerate like a jackhammer (just like a mac truck)
Maybe that's why they call the exhaust a MAC :-D

I rejetted with 52.5 pilot and 152.5 main and it seems to be running good, I have the needle out 2.5 turns and am gonna keep it there for a while, I think 55 would be too rich, what do you think?

Whats a post without pics?

Volume is hard to judge on a video...
... but, if the noise doesn't bother you, and the bike seems to be running okay,... I wouldn't worry about some blue on the pipe...

...(a hot engine, will blue the pipe, from the head down)...

The blueing I see on you muff, is far from the head...
This has more to do with muffler construction than jetting or engine temps....

Well, now you know where the baffle, anti-reversion cone, or flow reducer is at... You ought to try that with a Jardine, I've seen one on a Savage get so hot it was glowing red... It did end up blowing out the muffler casing seam.

NOT one of my bikes by the way, I find Jardines to be completely unsatisfactory.

Replaced the plug with the recommended Denso plug then I swapped to a 155 main just to test it

I got 93 miles from a tankfull when I had the 152.5...

A 155 main jet is really rich....and overkill in most instances.  Taking a plug reading for a main jet is only accurate if you do a full throttle run, and immediately shut the bike off and read the plug without any idling.

With the stock air cleaner and a muffler with a baffle.....a #50 pilot and a # 150 main is enough in most cases....with 3 washers under the needle, and then drop to 2 washers if you feel any surging at partial throttle.  Folks with cone filters and open exhaust are normally the ones who need the bigger (#52.5, # 152.5) jets.

The baffle in the exhaust is pretty darn open, I'll ride with the 155 for the next week then I'll check the plug for the overal condition

If its dark then my overall condition will be too rich and then I'll change out the main, ride some more and if its still dark I'll change out the pilot to    a 50...

Sound like a good plan?

I also reduced to 2 washers because i was getting that part throttle surge

Bike feels good with 155 but we'll wait and see
