Tire Shine
03/21/14 at 17:51:06

I took my bike over to my buddys house, he has been after me for a while to come by because he painted my tank and fend for me and wanted some pictures. His wife offers me some water so I go inside and speak to her for a while, anyways long story short when I come back out this idiot put tire shine on the savage for his pictures.
Is there some way to take it off more quickly than it does on its own?
The sidewalls are slick and it extends onto the tread a good ways, how worried should I be about safety?  Huh

Riding in sand helps scrub it off faster...

Just treat them like new tires that still have the release coating...
I'd be careful for the next 30 to 50 miles...
Careful... Wink...

Back tire in his yard, front tire against his chimney. At 20 or so mph, the tire shine will turn to steam from the friction...

Hot soapy water (Dawn or similar dish detergent) and a stiff nylon bristle brush will take it right off if you don't want to rut up his yard.

Just ride carefully until the road has as scrubbed off the goo from the tread.  Don't be banking over and dragging your footpegs on the pavement for a bit.

I've used purple power from my local auto parts store and it works well.  Just be sure to only wipe the tire and to also wear gloves.

once I used too much soapy water while changing tires, almost killed myself in the first turn... your tire shine will come off soon, don't bank to hard for a while

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
