Shredded clutch - NOT MINE

I found this on youtube, and I thought it was interesting.  What do you suppose ACTUALLY caused his clutch to do this?  Why was it slipping in the first place?  My initial guess would be he was using the wrong oil.

Thoughts?

bike had upgraded springs and added friction plates. It shredded because it was the weakest component of the powertrain and couldn't stand up to the forces from the crank.

The suzuki savage is a bike that is poorly designed. The OEM clutch is much too weak, so it slips. This is nothing to do with maintenance. If you try to strengthen the clutch so it doesn't slip, it will just break like this one did.

Stuff is designed to work w/in certain limits.
Redesign that stuff and you might find out what those limits are.
It would've been better if he had learned to adjust the clutch so it didn't slip.

His home "Modded" clutch self destructs,.. and he blames Suzuki?...

Grin Grin Grin...

I have a 50k and a 35k Savage in my driveway, and the original clutches are fine...

Regular maintenance which includes clutch adjustment when I had the FireLizard with all the mods I had done to it and the clutch was just fine and I was NOT easy on it.

Phhhht,, HE musta done something wrong OR he got THE bad clutch. Im not familiar with a clutch problem, in general. The throwout can die & cause a hassle, but they dont slip unless theyve got the wrong oil or are adjusted wrong.
