Who/What the heck is a Mozillian???

You have heard of Appleonians, Unbuntists, Windozians -- here is a new group that is self-defining itself now as Mozillians.

They are announcing who/what they are and what their core beliefs are both as a foundation and as a user group and why they expect to succeed in their goals.  

I find it interesting that Mozilla Foundation gets actively supported in many different areas by Panasonic, Sony, Google, The Chinese Government and many other local governments that they have been dealing with.    

Mozilla simply gets trusted more than any of the other players.

As the presentation goes forward to the market penetration maps, note that Mozilla Foundation has not been seeking to disrupt the USA status quo at all right now as no Mozilla product is "fancy enough" for the USA market yet.  

This is intentional, very intentional.

Mozilla is intentionally going only where they can be totally successful with the resources the foundation and its partners can actually put to the task.  

The new computing third world will learn how to compute using that $25 Mozilla Firefox phone, as NO ONE ELSE CAN EVEN TOUCH THAT PRICE POINT RIGHT NOW.   Functionally, Mozilla has no competition at all in their current third world core growth markets.

If Mozilla continues doing what they are doing, over half the people in the world will actually start out computing on a $25 Firefox phone.

The Firefox OS is only one year old now -- still, in one year of growing so rapidly theirs is quite a success story for a one year old phone/tablet/all-in-one operating system.

Watch the tablets and the all-in-ones closely for the future of the Firefox OS.    See Sony and Panasonic use and grow the FF OS on some really large screen products.    See FF OS continue to move upscale in features and appearance on phones and tablets as its native first markets begin to slowly mature.

If Firefox can get on-line web gaming working really good with OPEN GL LIVE with its HDML5 based standards then they really will have done it.  

They will have opened up the entire world to a whole set of new low cost products that can really leverage the internet and take advantage of all the processing power that exists in the server farms that the web runs on today.  

If they can totally solve gaming on am 1.5 ghz dual core processor with 256k of systems memory, then they certainly can do all the rest of it.  

Good gaming has always been the toughest thing to do .....

If they pull that off, I may have to become a Mozillian on a freestanding gaming device, or mebbe a cheap 10" tablet (assuming the two things aren't one in the same).

Will Mozilla influence Google ??   Yup, already have.   See Chrome OS take advantage of anything Mozilla does, and vice versa.   It's all open source and available on the shelves in the Linaro grocery store.

Will Mozilla help Microsoft become irrelevant ??  Yup, by succeeding as well as they have they certainly have helped Microsoft become much less needed in huge chunks of the world just this past year alone.    

Every person who uses a Mozilla OS product is a lost customer to MS -- likely lost forever as open and free is what they will expect and want.

Many of the places where Android is too pricey to go, Mozilla can go there right now and finish locking out MS and Apple who can't be bothered with low end anything.

More fools them by the time they finally figure it all out  --  that they TOTALLY BLEW IT with their big boy arrogance and they now have ZERO presence in entire growing market segments.
