Time to get back on the road

Hey folks,
Bike been outta commission for a bit. I know it's time to try putting that longer cam chain tensioner in it, that's certainly on my todo list.

b/c I was worried about that I wasn't riding my bike much. Few months back I went to start it up after sitting for maybe 1 mo no riding and it started leaking fuel everywhere. I ran over and shut it off before I was able to figure out where it was coming from.

I've been psycho busy trying to get into med school this last year, so I just pushed it up onto my porch and haven't had time to get back to it until now. Is there any problem with me trying to start the bike at this point to determine the location of the leak? Is there any risk to more damage from starting it up like that? Fuel leaking pretty fast if I remember right. Can't tell if its from a line, carb, petcock, dunno

Obviously that's higher priority than chain tensioner but I'd like to knock both out in the next few months so I can take the bike with me to school.

As always, thanks guys

Josh

I'm guessing the old petcock failed or a problem with the vacuum line exists.  I'm sure one of the experts will chime in soon,

I would replace the pet with one of these. About $30 for the Rapture and $5 to get a pack of rubber caps at the auto store.

Problem solved.  I would change your oil too.  I have heard on occasion the crank case filling up with gas as well.  You can find the part number here on the site and go to partsfish.com.
