Exhaust Downpipe
02/18/14 at 02:56:51

Hiya folks...

I am having trouble with locating an exhaust downpipe for my 1997 savage ( uk ). My dilemma is it seems too expensive to warrant buying a new one especially as I will need to buy a new muffler for it also. I think that the total cost will be around £ 500.00 which is roughly $850.00. This would be without any seals or gaskets which will have to be changed also.

Has any one any suggestions on how I can do this but for a lot less as I don't think the bike is worth spending this much on.  I am having to change the downpipe as it is very pitted and rusty, incidentally and the muffler is very poor.

Hi,

I'm in the uk, parts are quite scarce here, there is a complete exhaust system on ebay at 139.99, or nearest offer, id put an offer in for 120, and you'd probably get it
just type ls 650 exhaust into ebay

hope this helps

Hi there,

Many thanks for that. I have had a quick look and it seems a bit better than the one I have got other than the dent.

Regards

Hey no problem,

if all else fails you could ask the seller if they would just sell you the down pipe, and order the drag pipe from blue collar bobbers about 100 if i recall, if not 120 for the complete exhaust plus 100 for the drag pipe and a tenner for a gasket thats 230 which is better than 500

Wink

That's what I did and it worked out real well.  I used an electric palm sander with 100 grit paper.  I also tried to season it to the pipe as well.  I'd it warm up, let it cool off, then warm it up a bit more each time (4 or 5 times).
