I've noticed that a couple of the lads on here talk about leaving the two chrome covers on top of the head off,is this safe to do, bearing in mind I live in the UK where it is currently pouring with rain pretty much non-stop,cheers all,  p.s. what would I need to convert the savage into a small boat ?

The chrome covers are a fashion statement.

I have had mine off for a year and been soaked to the bone, and although I was miserable....the bike didn't care.

Nice though they are... the chrome head covers can be a pain if you try to change the spark plug and drop it.... the plug tends to go up against the inside of the cover . Unless you have very small hands then you have to take the covers off anyway to get the dropped plug out! Angry

One thing to Always remember & Never forget,,The plug sits down in a hole.. & that hole gathers dirt & crunchy stuff.. Ya Never wanna pull the plug without blowin that hole clean first,,I did once,, just wasnt thinkin,, & then I felt down in the hole, after I pulled the plug & felt BB sized chunks sittin down there. I spent the next coupla hours fishing junk up outta the jug,, IIRC I used a fairly stiff plastic tube w/ some grease on it. I got some stuff back that would have very likely scored it up in there..
Y'all dont be doin that stuff,, awwrite?

By the way......we are all planning a mass mailing of chrome covers to Serowbot next Christmas. (It is a surprise.....don't tell him).

Serowbot is going to build a chrome Armadillo mailbox from them.
