Here is a tubeless conversion kit, actually just some tape to seal the spokes. Has anyone ever tried this on any bike?

Why would you want to go tubeless?
Serious question here.

1. you don't have to buy tubes...
2. you can plug a tire on the road...
3. you can plug a tire on the road, while it's still on the rim...
I'd like it,.. but I don't trust it...

Those metzler 880's are a pretty stout tire. I wouldn't want to find out, but how far do you think you could go on a flat tire going about 2o mph if you had to?

If its a rear flat, youre ahead at highway speeds, the centrifugal forces hold the tire up. Slow, they get weird, a front flat? Dont,, just DONT..
