The New Honda CB1100 2013 -2014

I really like retro styled bikes these days.  I have a Ducati GT1000 Sport Classic.  Wouldn't mind having a New Triumph Bonneville.  I dream about a new Norton  Roll Eyes
But this bike has really got me thinking about selling my Moto Guzzi Norge and picking up one of these this spring.

Maybe a left over 2013...

Or the new 2014 in black...

I can probably get a bit of a deal on the 2013 and I do like the red with the silver side covers.
I don't know what it is but I just don't care for the Transformer look that a lot of the new bikes have these days.
What do you fellas think of the looks on the Honda?

Coincidence...  Yesterday, I rode past the dealer and among the bikes in the outside display this bike caught my eye... it actually drew me in for a closer look...
Nicely done... retro/standard...  Very compact for an 1,100cc...
Looks light and nimble...
I'm not a fan of 4cyl bikes, but this one is nice...

Go for it... Grin... (don't let go of that Duc though)... Wink...

Im more immediately responsive to the red one. My heart literally jumped when I saw it. Compact was a word that came to mind for me, too, Im just not a big fan of the black bike look,.Its a bike, it should be bright & fun, not dark & sinister as possible. I also am no 4 cylinder fan. I have a 2 cylinder max rule, due to carb tuning & access to valves. Id wanna know the timing chain expected life, pain to replace/cost,, etc.,
The Norge is a fair target,, not the Duc, youll cry..
Of course, losin the 90* Vtwin that sounds like a V8 when ya romp on it isnt gonna be fun, either..

Yea, I'll never get rid of the Ducati.  I learned my lesson long ago. The bikes and cars I wished I'd kept when I was younger.

On the other hand, the Guzzi is still not gonna be easy to sell but there is no way I can have a new bike with out getting rid of one.
The thing about both those bikes is you rarely get away from a fuel stop with out some one asking you about your bike  Smiley
Another thing about the Guzzi compared to a multi cylinder like the CB is it is very easy to do valve check/ adjustment and other maintenance.
But dealer support is all but nonexistent for Moto Guzzi.

But the lines and the clean look of the CB as well as the 4 cylinder is really calling to me for some reason.

A local dealer shows he as a CB1100 in his inventory.  Got nothing to do tomorrow so I am going to drive over there and look at one first hand, sit on it and stuff.

Gerry,.. I need pics of your Duc, and Guzzi,... before I can decide... Grin...

That Honda's nice,.. but you have a Duc and a Guzzi...
I don't think I'd give either one up for a Honda...

The 2013 has 5 gears and the 2014 has 6.  I think 5 ought to be enough for 1140 cc.   Huh   It does look good though.

I was drooling over it last year...

It has a traditionally high seat. So I cannot flat foot it ( Tilt and tiptoe). That with the in--line 4 ( which I love) makes it a bit top heavy and high for me. IF they could lower it... I would probably trying to do something to get one.

Carbs??? pretty sure only the looks are old school.. its EFI.

OK Serow, here are a couple of pics.

These photos were taken for a "game" we play on the Region 4 sub forum for Sport Touring.net forums.  It's called " Michigan photo tag", somebody posts a pic of a historical, interesting, or micro brewery, restaurant, etc. with their bike in the photo.  Next player has 24 hours to post his bike in that scene then ride on to another site to post the new "tag".  Hints are given when needed but good "Google-fu" will get you there
Lots of fun and gives some interesting rides and places to go.

Hi Pine,
the seat height is 31.3" for the 2013, that is about .5" lower than the Ducati and .6" lower than the Guzzi.  I have to do the Tilt and flat foot one foot on those.  I just got back from the Honda dealer and I was surprised how narrow the bike felt and how small the tank is and how I could almost flat foot both feet.  The bike felt very narrow for a inline 4.  My inseam is 31".  And yes, it is EFI.

I don't know about actually getting one, maybe I'll check into selling the Ryca when it is done to go towards the Honda?

I realy like standards, so that bike calls to me
If I had the cash
only other problem is, EFI or no, still a bunch of valves to twiddle, etc.
Part of the reason I went with  a Rebel, then an S40, is they're simple, though I've learned the S40 isn't quite as simple as I thought
also, I prefer a low revving engine, Thumpers and v twins
especialy thumpers
