Any other motorcycles like savage?

Just curious are there any other motorcycles that are similar to savage? Reliable, servicable, fun to ride? What would you ride if savage would not exist today?

or perhaps the Indian version of the Enfield?

How many archaic designs are still on the road beside the enfield and the Savage?? Shocked

Modern would include Rotax motored BMW.  The SRX and Honda Ascot were shorter lived attempts at the simple road single of 500-650-cc.

I actually have been thinking lighter and smaller... the 300 ninja is an awesome little machine but the seating position isn't great for longer rides. I did ride it from home (north coast of fl.) to north Carolina, tennesse, Georgia and Kentucky (put about 2,500mi on it) when I was healthy.
But now that i'm not in as good shape and thinking about the future, I have been looking around at other bikes and when I purchased the savage for my wife found it to be very close to what I think will be my "final" bike.
My final bike will probably be more of a bark o' lounger than a bobber or chopper... low fat wide cushy seat, with a tall semi-wide one seat sissy bar to lean back against... taller bars that reach back to the semi-reclined position I will be in... and of course all the wizzes and bangs I can attach.... heated everything.... ufo blinding front lighting system (for seeing in the dark of course)... quick attach detach system for luggage and traveling (that I will probably only do once a year), and honey-do shopping trips.... OH.. and a horn that will wake the hounds of hell if they are sleeping in the road ahead... Shocked
So, if I can manage to chop a savage down to a useable weight and size that a 89 year old granny can pick up without throwing a disc in her back.... I might actually go for one... if not... I will buy cheap and experiment with smaller bikes... like the ccw bobber... brand new they are only $3,200 and I suppose used they will rival a 2004 and older savage in price range of $1000 to $1800. If the Savage didn't exist, I doubt I'd have a bike newer than the mid 1960s.

I'd likely still be riding HD or Indian Big Twins. 74 or 80 cubic inch flathead/side valve engines preferred. 74 or 80 inch OHV engines tolerated.

Or a pre-unit British parallel twin.

Actually trying to decide right now whether to finish the Savage or call Lancer to come get it as a parts roach and wash my hands of it. I've had the thing for 16 years, since it was brand new, and it still isn't "right". NEEDS a springer fork.

I like the Heist but 250cc, but that tiny cylinder looks lonely, wish they made a bigger top.

Have a look at the Kawasaki W-650. Easy to handle, easy maintenance.,in fact, theyre less maintenance. Get great mileage & run & run & run,,

Not commonly available in the US market.. they are an EU bike. That said... I did see one for sale at the dealership... looks like a Triumph America.

I had a 1971 Honda 350 twin that was the same weight and power level as the Savage ... Handled about the same too (except for mid-pegs).

That bike felt like an extention of my body kinda like the savage does . Smiley
