Does anyone have an example or any ideas of what to do with the hole thats left when you move the speedometer ( only serious answers please ) or if they're really funny then less than serious replies may be entertained Smiley cheers

Best I've seen is what Blinky-FSO did...
Some kind of sidecase cover plate in the hole...

Looks good - but I was thinking long the lines of something a bit more flush maybe

Is there a ridge there where the top & bottom meet & are welded? If so, the only way to go flush is to get rid of it.

Yup, there's a ridge...  That's why I like Binky's idea...
You could probably rig the cap to open an have a small storage place... (stuff a beanie in there, to cover yer' helmet hair)... Grin...

Yep, there is a ridge where the vertical sides of the cutout are roller seam welded to a turned up edge of the tank top.  The ridge comes up about 1/8 - 3/16 of an inch I believe.

Well,, a ridge make a flush cover pretty labor intensive, SAFELY removing the ridge & welding the tank back & filling the hole would be a big project,,The solution shown above is really nice & not even close to the hassle of trying to make it flush,

Ryca motors sells a cover for the opening that has holes for the ignition switch and 3 warning lights. It's one inexpensive solution.
