Microsoft's new stalking goat

Oh, this is sooooooo typical for a Microsoft answer to a really hard problem.

Microsoft has failed miserably in their search for a turn-around CEO.  Nobody wanted the job who was a person that they actually wanted.   They have failed for nearly a year to find a real turn around CEO and have started taking Wall Street heat for not finding anybody.

So, they have thrown up another stalking goat to take the heat.

This guy has spent his entire working career working directly under Ballmer and Gates.   Can you say "company man worker drone"?

Really, what does he bring to the party as a change agent?

Now read the rest of the good news from MS.

"Meanwhile Bill Gates is stepping down from his position as chairman of the board of directors. But that’s because he’s taking a more hands-on role as “Founder and Technology Advisor.”

I.E.  The Board of Directors actually DID move Gates out of a ruling position in the company.

Former CEO Steve Ballmer will hold a position on the board of directors, but Nadella takes over as CEO starting immediately.

Notice they do not say who is Chairman of the Board ????    Do they even have one at this point in time?

So, Goat boy really gets the smaller office that connects to Ballmer and Gates larger offices and he runs to get the big boy's coffee whenever they want some?   Or else is he really in charge, and Gates/Ballmer are really really outa there?

You can see from the creases and lumps in his lopsided skull that he is well used to being the Pinata boy for his bosses and the press, so he does have some experience and skills in his real position as the Board's stalking goat for Wall Street.

The preliminary of the new Win 8.1.2 is out to the techno press now and the pundits see nothing in the way of basic fixes for the Win 8 illnesses.  Just a couple of new band-aids.

“Having worked with him for more than 20 years, I know that Satya is the right leader at the right time for Microsoft,” said Steve Ballmer, who announced on Aug. 23, 2013 that he would retire once a successor was named. “I’ve had the distinct privilege of working with the most talented employees and senior leadership team in the industry, and I know their passion and hunger for greatness will only grow stronger under Satya’s leadership.”

Microsoft also announced that Bill Gates, previously Chairman of the Board of Directors, will assume a new role on the Board as Founder and Technology Advisor, and will devote more time to the company, supporting Nadella in shaping technology and product direction. John Thompson, lead independent director for the Board of Directors, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors and remain an independent director on the Board."

Prediction time:
What to expect from the New Microsoft

Expect Microsoft to follow the existing future road map as laid down by Ballmer and Gates last year.

Expect Microsoft to continue the same practices as they have done in the past.

Expect the tectonic plates of change to continue to move out from under the unmoving unchanging Microsoft until they either get buried alive or fall off into the sea .....

Actually, a good move for MS right now would be for Windows 9 to come in two (2) SEPARATE completely tuned specific versions -- a x86 Business/PC version that goes back towards the Win 7 generation keyboard and mouse control functions and a touch based ARM Tablet/Phone version that runs very very well on the new generation of ARM 64 bit processors.

Quit trying to mix the two worlds up, it doesn't work ...

Intel's new generation of processors all run ARM/ANDROID system calls natively, so you can now FOCUS COMPLETELY on ARM/ANDROID calls totally instead of splitting your attention all over the place.

Forget X86 once the new Intel processors take over the X86 side of things, it is going to be a legacy technology inside of 3 years.   Your Buisness/PC version needs to deal with it for legacy software purposes, not your Tablet/Phone version.

MS Office needs to run well on the Tablet/Phone version, so you got some more work to do there.

Microsoft needs to act quickly and pro-actively to block the creation of a FOSS "generally accepted" ARM based operating system suitable for business and government use ....  or else it is game over on the worldwide stage for them.

Remember, Microsoft isn't liked in Europe or China for very much.

Also remember, it is very hard to compete price-wise against "free".

Wink    Also note that last week REACTOS floated a kickstarter campaign to fund a bunch of new programmers to finish itself up in a timely fashion.

I wonder what Microsoft's new CEO has planned to do if that actually takes place .....

My wife's main laptop just got hit with the MySearchDial trojan that hitched a ride into her machine when she downloaded something innocent from the Internet.

That is one tough sucker to get off a machine because it lays down 78 different malwares all at the same time.

You have to use 4 different cleaners in a specific order to get it off -- and guess what, it keeps coming back because when you go on the Internet it just reloads itself.

Dammit, but I do so dearly love MS's OS products .....  they surely offer more hours of entertainment than any other OS out there.

Angry      yeah, I know MS didn't write the viruses and trojans and worms and root-kits and adwares.
They just set up the ecosystem that supports all them little wigglies down deep deep in the guts of their OS products.
