I'm reading the post about changing out the muffler.

How do you  determine if the can you use to make the collar is tin or aluminum? Why is that important anyway?

Magnet?... Huh... not real important... tin is thicker and usually has them ripples in it... I think the ripples help the seal... tin does rust, aluminum don't...

I don't think it matters.  I read they use the tin because the ripples help seal it a bit better.
