I understand that. However, here in Europe, the average city is at least 1000 years old, and the "city center" is actually a maze of narrow alleyways.

In the few days we've driven the car here and there, the Toyota has never fared less than 40mpg in the city center on a 1800cc gasoline engine.
Compared to her 1400cc VW Polo, that's VERY good.
