Whoooo !!!  Whooooo !!!

Wink   Steam is building up some speed.

Steam has done some stuff in the last year alright -- broke full 3D video card drivers loose from the big boys and made them available for Steam uses.  Brought a slow stream of better gaming titles to Linux (not all of them by a long shot, but more that before by a factor of 10 at least).   Steam is noted now for instantly patching your games if needed and giving you level updates and new mods on your games automatically.

Steam has created their own Steam OS and have Steam Boxes for sale now too.

..... but you knew about that already, right?

Steam has also broken ground as a CENTRAL SOFTWARE provider for business and educational uses.    Non-gaming type software.

You can "buy" your software under a log-in and password system and then use that same software in your various different places (but not at the same time).

Steam is beginning to succeed in doing what Microsoft dreamed of doing before nasty 'ol Microsoft blocked them cold and then Microsoft came in from the left hard and totally sideswiped MS's overall progress into a jumbled heap of wreckage.

(Microsoft has many competing operational silos -- you did know that, right?)

Roll Eyes

Have any of you put a Steam pipe into your house yet?

If so or if not, then why?    Steam has a lot of free stuff and they will do a 75% off sale the really big gaming titles periodically as they begin to get a little age on them.

Jest curious if you have checked into it yet ....

Quote to remember:

"It was Valve’s Gabe Newell who said that piracy is a service problem, a quote I often repeat. Steam has fixed that service problem, and though PC piracy still exists, Steam’s ease of use and great deals at least make it manageable."
