Ken had a series of tests done yesterday.  Today they are going to do some surgery to physically examine the bladder to determine if it can remain in place as Ken would prefer - or if the cancer is so bad that it should be removed.

Update:

In the surgery yesterday they took out all the tumors in the bladder, and found no other cancer in the surrounding tissue.  The results appear to be pretty good, as he can keep his bladder for now.

Thanks for your continued prayers.

Our Prayers have been answered.

Ken had tumors surgicially removed from his bladder and is recovering.

Today the pathology results from the tumors were obtained, and they were benign!

Ken needs to go back in 3 months for another check up.......but until then he is free to carry on with his life.

I need to update this thread, and ask for an additional round of prayers.

Ken's has been going through chemo and has had some success, the cancer in the bladder has not come back.  The cancer however is in one kidney and the uretor, and this Friday, September 19th they will be doing surgery to remove that kidney and uretor.  If all goes well he will be rid of the cancer.

Please pray for Ken and Diane.

He'll have to start drinking really very light water (as little deposit as possible, as low in calcium and sodium as you can find)
and give up some "solid food" he may like - he'll have to adapt his regimen and lifestyle.

But he'll be alive, and that's what counts. I still look after the scar on my left jaw that reminds me "I'm alive".

On a lighter note, if you allow me a joke, just to raise the morale, if you're in good terms, tell your friend this punchline:
"Man is like a big sausage, you may have to slice off a sliver, but he'll still be full of baloney!"

If you got the double-meaning and the joke and smiled, I'm happy you did.
If you didn't, and furrowed your brow and thought "HUH ???", then I'm sorry and I hope you didn't take offense.

==========================

For the sake of clarity, in Italy "Baloney" is called "Mortadella", a big, huge boiled sausage

It is typical of the city of Bologna, which is why you call it "Baloney".  Cool
