Jolia's Meego-based Sailfish is just the last of the alternate OS products to go wide stream.   It is very popular in Northern Europe right now and lots of folks are buying into the Sailfish experience as it came out of the gun as a top of the line Scandinavian native language product.

With 5 new alternate OS products out there plus a goodly half-dozen Android remixes coming out of China early next year you would think that Android would be showing some kind of hit in their rate of increase in activations ....

Not so, Android activations per day have marched right on up the scale, 1.2 million, then 1.3 million then 1.5 million activations per day are now being seen.

The reason for this lack of effect is that the smart phone space is exploding, with more NEW people computing inside the next 24 months that have ever computed in all the years previously.

Plenty of room for everybody, huh?   The most popular OS at the end of the two year period will rule world wide as the older players can become completely inconsequential if they don't win the minds and pocketbooks of the emerging computing worldwide population.

There will be BIG winners and losers during this period ....

.... and companies that are sitting there with their thumbs up their bums awaiting the hiring of a new CEO (that will take 6 mos to a year after he gets hired to get control of things and execute anything of consequence) are quite likely to have their bum heal up over their hand during this huge, significant,  very rapid growth period ....

You very well could see Apple join Microsoft in the loser ranks world wide since neither are doing anything significant in the new opening markets.  

Remember, if all of your huge uptick in sales is in new markets and you are not in those new markets, then logically your overall market share will tank just about as fast as the overall market grows.

Apple is saying it doesn't matter, they will do just fine with all their dedicated loyalists right here in the USA .....

..... but what if they (the Apple loyalists) don't buy a new phone this year?

..... or they jump ship because something else becomes trendy?

..... or get price driven as the USA economy fails to recover completely from the moral effects of the health-care debacle?
