There really is no comparison, those folks that compare a Honda 250 rebel to the ls650 savage have never owned both bikes.
I on the other hand have, the seating position on the rebel has the pegs directly under your butt, the savage has the pegs slightly forward. The savage sits about 2" lower, is about 8-10" longer, with more rake on the tree, and the savage is a "thinner" frame, all this makes handling totally different.
While riding the rebel you are leaning a bit forward and on the savage you are sitting more upright and in a more comfortable position.
Power.... the rebel is no comparison at all, at 60mph the rebel is screaming like it is going to blow up. At 60mph the savage is still waiting for you to shift into 5th gear.
The rebel is an "around town" motorcycle while the savage is an "around the states" motorcycle.
I've ridden the savage (stock) to North Carolina from the Panhandle of Florida, and would not even dare attempt it on the Honda.
By the way, the rebel and the Honda I've ridden are my wife's bikes, she is 5'2", I am 5'10", she sold the rebel and kept the savage, me, i'm selling my HD roadglide and getting a savage....
And that's my views on the subject...
Oh and welcome to the forum!!!!
