I picked up the V-star 1100 on saturday. He gave me $100 break as the battery is SHOT.  Sunday, had me riding the Savage to church, as I often do if family cant/wont ride together.

Soooo big and fat. This will take so getting use to.

Yep....by the pound is the way to go.

I just sold my 2009 Sherco trials bike for $ 30.30 a pound....and I bought a 2000 Honda ST1100 for $ 4.60 a pound!

This is going to be fun.

Lets see, I bought a 2007 S40 for $3.94 per pound; rode it a year and sold it for $4.87 per pound, and then bought a 2007 C50 for $7.53 per pound. I guess that sounds high until you do the math on a Harley Road King or BMW R1200RT. Over $30 per pound would be my guess.

Good hunting

Pine,

Did you get a classic or custom? I have a 05 1100 classic and it is night and day difference between it and my S40. The S40 feels like a toy after riding the 1100.

I think you will enjoy the Classic. If it still has stock pipes on it, get rid of them and also change the intake. Doing those will really wake the bike up.

Here is a couple links for forums with good info on the V Star:

Thanks 12bravo .. wow thats one tricked out bike. I will try to get some picks up of mine soon.

The exhaust is Cobra Long pipes. I like them at idle and takeoff.. but they do seem to done at cruising speed. The jets were re-done to match the pipes. I think the intake is stock.

Has the "stock?" Silverado clear wind screen.
Has the floor boards front and back
has a cheap and broken trunk
Has nice saddle bags but they are weather worn
Ultimate seat for rear.. stock up front

What the original owner said I REALLY need to do is get the oil filter relocation kit.. as the pipes have to be dropped to change the filter!

New battery on the way
Needs a new rear tire
Needs a good bath!
I want new hand grips ( originals are looking pretty bad)
I kinda want to get front pegs until I get use to the bike, Those boards are large and slow me down from putting my foot down. Also I have hit that dern rear shift peg several times on accident... grrrr

I shouldn't think I need to wake this beast up. Its an 1100! Though I stall most times on takeoff.. fatty needs a bunch of RPMs to get going. I need to get use to stopping her as well. I do like that choke being on the handlebar!

I would think twice about the Oil Filter Relocation kit (ORK). I had the Baron's ORK and could never get it to not leak. You only have to drop the front pipe to change the filter. After you've done it a couple of times, it gets real easy to drop the pipe and put back on. I have the Cobra drag pipes on mine. Nice and quiet when I want and they talk when I get on it.

I'm with 12Bravo,... it is a nuisance, and bad design,... but not worth spending $250 to change it...

Once you've done a couple oil changes it's just routine... it'll take you and extra 5 minutes is all...

Ride safe on that big beast.... Wink...
