I like the lit one also, but those gyro's have to take up a lot of battery juice, and in the video you could hear how noisy they were.

Maybe use a slow retract small wheeled balance leveler system that engages at below 10 mph (there is a company that makes them for motorcycles, I think they are called "stop assist" or  "balance assist") so the gyro's could shut down at stops to save energy and maybe freewheel spin for easy stop and goes.

Wrote to lit about it... lets see what the engineers say. Shocked

like most things, this was invented and manufactured a long while ago - it was called the "Near-a-car"    and had two wheels and a gyroscope, plus the "landing wheels"  when the engine was switched off.  I can't find it on Google, but I have seen photos of it. It was pre- WW2.     I cannot remember the manufacturer. Perhaps someone here knows?

Well they replied very politely, saying that the gyro's don't use all that much power and their landing system is fast and fine. And they thanked me for my interest in their product.

Funny though, in the video the prototype made horrendous noise, so loud the guy inside could not hear you if you were standing right next to his window unless you shouted at him. That in itself would tell me that those gyro's take a lot of power along with all the circuitry fastened to the back wall.

Still, it intrigues me, now if they can make one with doors on both sides, I'd be interested.
I'd have to have doors on both sides for safety, I can't stand not having an escape route if I am pinned down by a vehicle... I don't care what they show on the video, if you get hit hard and high (like a football tackle) by a large vehicle, its gonna knock you over and might pin you down. I want escape options dangit!

I understand your concerns old rider.
You make very valid points.
I've been in a couple of roll over accidents
and found that doors do not always open easily
after serious collisions. I plan to keep a
device to break windows handy.

Yes and that escape factor is what my wife was worried about with the Elio, only one door (drivers side) and small windows for the passenger, which do not look like they are big enough to crawl through.

We kinda giggled and said at that price we could get a pair and dump our vehicles. I could sell my pickup for the price need to buy the Elio and if I ever needed to move we could rent a truck. I have a small travel trailer that a motorcycle can pull, so the Elio would do it nicely.

I like the options folks are coming out with that can save on fuel costs and still keep you safe and comfy while driving them. Lets just hope the costs are realistic and they don't make a Yugo, neighbor had one of those and the driving time vrs. fix it time were almost 50/50.

They plan on including 3 airbags if that concerns you. Much safer than a two wheeled vehicle.

Yes seen that too, that's why I saved the site and also "liked" it on facebook and have been getting updates from them. They are in halburton florida I think this week for a day or two.

We will definatly keep track of the Elio, but like I stated before, I want to hear it is a "positive" that they will start production and not a "we plan to start production" before I throw any money in their direction. Hope you donated on the "returnable fund" side.
