What's up with Ryca?

Bought one of those exhaust adapters, shipping came up to $30 but I needed it so whatever. Just got the package today and their shipping cost was $9...kinda bullshit if you ask me especially since canadians already get the highest postage costs, and the adapter was overpriced to begin with.

If you agree to the cost in advance,... you can't really complain...
Shipping's a beotch...
They choose their business model...
Some companies give free shipping and jack the price... some give a low price and jack the shipping... some give the straight cost plus profit...
Canada throws a monkey wrench in their calculations...

If you didn't agree to start with.. I'd complain to them...

Either way... I hope it suits your purpose, and you enjoy your new muff...
Wink...

RYCA's a pretty new company... they're moving fast to establish themselves...
They do some nice things...  but, all this must be pretty new to them...

I just became a big fan of Ryca. The quality of their products and workmanship is first class from what I have seen. They seem like honest guys who are not out to rip people off. Just my personal impression.

Shipping to Canada, as well as any other location outside the US can be a real hassle and is costly.  Often the shipping estimates that you get initially are not accurate and the shipper can end up eating the difference in cost.  Because of the extra time and effort required to deal with the paper end of it, even when using the programs, many shippers automatically charge extra for that.
You would think the cost to Canada would be closer to the cost within the US for shipping but its more like shipping to Europe.
In your case, the actual cost to ship was less than what was charged to you so I can only assume RYCA added a standard cost because it was international.

What about paying import/export fees? A lot of people do not realize that when you order something from Canada to the US. Our Uncle Sam wants a piece of that action! Which I'm okay with. Someone has to pay for the roads we ride on. Cool

An import fee when buying from outside the country is nothing but a "penalty tax" for not buying from here.
In the early days of this country the individual states imposed import taxes on goods purchased from other states.  One of the few good things that came from the Fed gov't was to stop that practice.  Of course, back then our representatives in congress actually represented us, and did not make decisions based solely on their political career.  At that time there were not many professional politicians.
We desperately need to go back to that practice again.

I do understand that shipping to Canada is costly and that I agreed in advance. Though I agreed to pay $30 to ship not $9 plus a surcharge of $20.

Just felt like complaining, that's a real crappy thing to do. When I sell stuff online I overestimate shipping to cover my tushy too. But if it ended up being such a huge discrepancy I would refund the difference (not to tarnish my eBay reputation). They're lucky I can't leave feedback!!
