Turning 10,000 Today
11/26/13 at 15:33:48

I am at 9,994 as I parked at work today, an exciting milestone for me  Smiley

I got the S-40 end of March and was planning to just ride with the wife on weekends and take small trips. As fate would have it I own a Pontiac Grand Am and it did what Pontiacs do, stop running. I must admit that I am in no real hurry to get the junker running and am really enjoying the 27 mile one way commute to work.

I took a photo at !,000 miles and will again at 10,000 and I hope to take another pic at 100,000 but that is a long way off  Grin

Just thought I'd share the joy  Smiley

Nice Dane! I actually just broke 10000 too! Just make sure you are not watching the odometer turn to 10000 when you hit it, it is cool to watch, but keep your eyes on the road...  Roll Eyes

Dane and danjray

At 42,000 miles I was chasing a engine noise and suppected piston raddle.   So I bought a 95mm piston and went into the motor to do a bore job.   Welll the piston skirt was wore out but the cylinder didn't even have a ring-grove. (as in piston raddle in the hole).   I should have put a fresh factory(94mm) piston in and run it another 42,000 , But there I was with a 95mm piston in hand ; so I bored it out , "BIG MISTAKE"....  MORAL of the story  ,

Keep the oil fresh
do the Versey cam-tentioner at about 14-15 k miles
keep the valve-clearence close
leave well enough alone and keep riding !

Oh yea ;  when that little tapping noise does come-in about 50,000 or so .... look for a ring grove befor you buy the larger piston.  Huh

Wink
