Didn't have time to mess with it this weekend. Was rebuilding/fabbing/building a wrecked 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo car the past few days. Will try to do something this week end and get back with you guys.

The guys at Classified Moto offer a front-end swap service that looks like it would sure help with a lot of the fiddly stuff.  I can't think of a better way to get a decent front brake setup on a Ryca:

I am actually thinking of going the opposite way...and put old forks on a new bike.
A springer front with a triple that steepens the angle of  the forks a bit...not much, but move the front wheel about 7" forward.
Then put on slightly taller bars than the buckhorns, and tilt them back toward me.
Then make it a single seat with a backrest that's head high and cushioned (I want a lazy boy look).

I have ridden my Cafe' conversion pretty aggressively, and I have never had any brake issues.  The brake seems to work fine and they have not overheated, or faded.  Other than looks.....has anyone had any issues where the stock brake cannot keep up with the power or weight of the Savage? (I know WD had a front brake that never worked properly).

Guess it depends what you're used to.  I'm comparing it to everything else I've ridden with relatively modern dual-disc fronts.  The front, even with s-s brake line, new pads, and properly bled, is so weak it's scary.  And that's on a Ryca conversion.  I can't imagine how it would work on something as heavy as a stock Savage.
