am having trouble removing the front pulley, is there some sort of trick to it or do i need a puller?

You need an impact wrench...  I have managed it a couple of times without, but an electric impact wrench will get it off in seconds...

It is splined. If you've got the nut and crimp washer off, it should slide off without too much trouble.

you may have to strike it with a mallet to break it loose.

and if that don't work, you may need a puller.

might try puttin it in gear & rockin it back & forth to see if you can get it to shift on the splines any. Have a good look, flashlight time, at the end of the splines on the shaft & pulley & see if there are any burrs hanging up.
Or,, go for a ride & see how far ya get before it spits the dang thing into oncoming! Now theres a PLan!  NOT!!!
