Petcock valve

I need to remove the fuel tank so I can get to the spark plug. Any ideas on how to shut the fuel off at the petcock valve? Prime/run/reserve, no off spot. Don't know why they would build a valve that cant shut the fuel off. Seems like if the fuel line got a leak it would be a disaster.  Huh I have a 2003 LS650 Savage.

Leave it in the run position, it takes a vacuum to make the fuel flow past the valve.

If when you pull the lines off the carb fuel starts running out, means you need a new valve, if so replace it with a raptor 660.

The petc0ck change-out was one of the first mods I did to the wife's savage.

Only raise the tank enough to remove the rear bolt from the trim. Loosen the front nut, swing the trim to the side using the front as a pivot. When done, swing it shut, tighten the front nut, throw the rear bolt away. Next time you need to look at the plug, all you do is loosen the front nut and swing the trim out of the way again.
