Plus one one each circuit, maybe the white spacer mod. In 15 years of messing with the Savage, I've never bothered to even attempt the white spacer mod. Top cap screws wouldn't come out in 1998, odds are, they won't come out now... I rode my Savage around from sea level to over 4000' in elevation when I lived in western Washington. On 55/155 jets, which were excessive, bike smoked like an old 2 stroke V8 big rig engine.

I run 55/155 with the 2 washers in place of the white spacer, K&N and drilled Dyna. I'm about 400' above sea level. It might be excessive but it doesn't smoke and I still get around 50 mpg.

I'll try that out it won't even run as is. Will that help shotgun blast backfires through almost every gear or eevery time I let off the throttle??

If re-jetting doesn't get rid of the shotgun blasts, you can try removing a small amount from the spring in the TEV. I clipped about 1/8" from the length of the spring (half a round) and doing so seems to have completely eliminated shotgun blasts on decel on my stock 2007. But I'd rejet first. The 55 pilot and adjusting the air mix screw might be enough to get rid of the backfires.

One of my favorite jets

Sadly, theyre old & have been thru so many take off/landing cycles the airframes just dont pass muster..I was told it was originally designed by Cessna as a small business jet, adopted by the military, modified to handle the job.But I cant find anything to back that up.
But,, reading this its pretty clear the "business jet" notion was BoguS.. Or without the OGU,, just BS..

I never woulda thot those little planes were so heavy! I saw them  fly & do strafing runs when I was in the AF. I helped maintain the scoring system at the range,,so, I got to see a few types of fighters shoot their guns at the targets,
