Grips

Can someone please recommend some grips for my bike? I have numbness in both hands while riding. This happens when I cycle as well. Had bad accident many years ago and fractured my neck and as a result I have lots of nerve damage that just so happens to make my hands go numb.

IDK about grips, but mechanics gloves/ gel padded palm & a focus on Not Gripping tight really helped me,, My hands go numb easy, too, from damage caused by oilfield work & riding a 10 speed. Lots of pressure in the ulnar nerve area. Lowes sells some decent gloves.. I wont ride w/o gloves of some sort,,I know if I go down, hands will go down.,.

Isogrips or the knockoff were the best I've found.
but you need big hands or you have a hard time reaching the levers.

Trying egrips now and are ok.

also, you might a different handle bar.

Was going to ask what kind of bars you have. Are you leaning forward to grab them? or pulling away and using your hands to support your body weight?

I bought some "grip puppies" for my sport bike (I lean a little forward on it) and they seem to help a little bit. The are an "add-on" type grip in that you put them over your stock grips. They are just a foam padding, I put mine on with no glue using an air gun with a cone shaped nozzle.

If you can't find the right set there, you're way too picky...  Wink

The old style "Coke bottle" grips in rubber seem to be the best choice for arthritic or otherwise compromised hands/fingers. I have a set of straight ribbed Harley chrome and black rubber grips right now, and even wearing a 5x glove, they are big. Isogrips are worse. However, I do have significant damage to my fingers, they curl funny at full relax (look like I'm riding) and not only bend to the outside (first 2 per hand) and the inside (ring and pinky each hand), they are starting to cross over each other. Think Rheumatoid Arthritis and you'd be close...
