Engine removal question
10/24/13 at 14:23:34

Iam going to remove the engine so i can do some fixes over the winter (suspect head plugg leak). However my question is do i have to remove the sidestand? (And then pull the engine out with with a lift from under) Or do you need a real bikestand?

YOull be the first to pull the engine to fix that leak. You REALLY wanna do that?
YOull need to pull the pegs, because the bolts run thru them & clamp the case halves together,,
I cant remember how the sidestand mounts, if its part of the peg mount, then youll need to at least tie the bikes bars so it cant fall. Pulling the engine has been done by some who werent real stout by laying a bedspread/blanket. whatever is thick & soft on the ground & lay the bike down & pull the last bolts.

You'll need to pull the side stand long enough to get the thru bolt out as it doesn't come straight out.  Then you can either put it back on so the bike will stand or not.

Last time I was messin with mine I got some all thread & slid it in where the thru bolts went so I could ,, OHH yea! I was cleanin it up,, & wanted to be able to get to the peg mounts real good,, anyway, a piece of all thread a little smaller than the thru bolts, ground a bit roundish on the end,,
