spark plug wire removal (Read 101 times)

Super Thumper Senior Member Offline 2001 LS650 With 97mm Big Bore Kit, Stage III Cam. Posts: 469 Windsor, Vermont Gender:	spark plug wire removal 10/24/13 at 10:24:21 I have my ignition coil in hand and want to replace the plug wire but can't seem to get the wire out of the coil without damaging the coil. Has anyone done this?

Yep...mostly what Serowbot said.

I believe they hook up all the internal stuff, including the wires....then they mold the plastic case around all the parts. The spark plug wire may well be stuck in place.

My old Honda Z50 coils have a hole for the wire that has a screw in the bottom - and the wire was coated with epoxy and then screwed into place. With a little work you can get the old wire out and then epoxy a replacement wire in place.......it is a long shot that the LS650 coil might be done the same way.

Someday I will be old......But not today!

Besides,.. The Thunder wire sounds a bit questionable to me from the get-go... (like Monster speaker cables, but for a spark plug)... JMHO...

You only need "x" amount of spark to light off the fuel charge. A stock wire and a properly gapped spark plug already do that. Hey, this has been discussed before.
