Thanks,
Gerry

Yup,.. I'd get a new one...
That little bit of wiggle will snap back 'n forth every shift and it'll be a contest as to which splines strip out...
...(you don't want the shaft to strip)...
Check scrapyards,.. or find someone here that has done a chain conversion...
Use "WTB front pulley" in the Marketplace...

Thanks Serowbot.
What do you think caused this? Or what should I do to prevent the replacement pulley from wearing out this way. I have read a few topics on how to tighten and maintain this pulley/ belt system, was it just a matter of the PO not tightening nut enough?
Thanks again,
Gerry

Just worked a little loose I guess... Mine did, too... but, I noticed a ticking sound and traced it to there...
Tighten up the next one good 100 to 130 lbs... (that's more than recommended .. around 95lbs)... buy a new crimp washer and bend it tight...

This topic prompted me to have a look at my front pulley too. Have noticed some oil leaking out of there. Yep, the nut was a tiny bit loose. No play on the splines so I'll call that good. I did notice, there's nothing to stop oil running down the splines on the output shaft apart from the pulley, nut and washer. Is it normal to put some RTV on the mating faces to keep the oil in, or just rely on the nut and pulley to seal themselves? Theres no oil leaking from the bush around the shaft or the crankcase, just the splines themselves.
Cheers
