Perry, just curious.  What was so bad?

The S50 I (very) briefly owned wasn't a "bad" Bike ... hell it's a Suzuki, a model which had been in their line-up for 20 years at the time I had mine ... I just didn't like it ... the thing did not "speak" to me on any level what so ever ... it had no "soul" if that makes any sense??

I still had my 1st LS650 at the time and a co-worker offered me his S50 with practically no miles on it for a steal of a price. I liked the look of it (Sportster-esque) and thought I'd take a chance. Sold my Savage and bought the S50 ... didn't take me long to realize I wasn't fussy about the S50 ...

Now, some might say that my current VT750DC Shadow Spirit is as "soul-less" a motorcycle as the VS800 ... and you might be right ... granted, the Spirit doesn't have the "character" of the LS650, but my '06 Shadow, for me anyhow, is "just right" and I would (and likely will) buy another ... the Phantom model is absolutely beautiful!! Cool

EDIT: adding a couple of pics

the '06 S50 I once owned;

the '06 750 Spirit I currently own;

LOL!! Looking at those pics "side by each" as we say up here on The Rock, those two Bikes looks kinda similar to each other! I still prefer the Honda though ...

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, in fact, just surrounded by arseholes!

it wasn't a bad bike at all, I thought it had great character, it's just not different enough from the S40/Savage to make it worth the extra expense of dealing with a twin engine, handlebars still vibrate more or less the same, seat is the same, seating position is the same, same spoke wheels, it weighs 100 lbs more so the extra power isn't all that effective, but it has liquid cooling that you have to worry about, and if the carbs aren't balanced right then I don't know what you have to do to fix that,  and you have two exhaust pipes to clean.  if it would have been fuel injected and had cast wheels it'd be a very cool bike imo

Thanks. Not sure why I have always liked the look of the 90s cruisers.  Everyone one in a while you can find one a good price.

The 750 isn't too hard to work on, I've been having an easy enough time, and I love the 'japanese chopper' feeling. I think ducatis are an incredible waste of money.
