hello!

Have just bought me a suzuki savage 1993 I'm an american classic car guy but thought testing on motorcycle life for a while. The choice on the savage was pretty easy!, It is a good looking bike, I like the retro look of the engine, I love one-lung engine and the price of the bikes are good. Will certainly have a lot of questions but  what I'm wondering now is:

How long will the drive belt last?
was there not sold any savage in the U.S. between 1989-95? when I'm looking parts there never my year but I guess brake pads, oil filters, air filters may be the same for all years?

The idea is to get a custom retro look of the bike, the family wants to ride with occasionally so the passenger seat may remain even if I'm want a bobber seat.

This is a before and after picture, and the taillight ... yeah im a chevy dude ..

sorry if the english sucks, im swedish  Cheesy

most likely not a '93 then, unless it came from Canada.

here's a thread about the VIN codes

Hi there and welcome!

Glad to have you on board.  The shop does look great.  Wish I had such a nice place to work on things.

The belt will last about forever.  No kidding, it should go 100,000 miles easy.  One thing that belts don't like is gravel. Getting gravel in the belt will shorten its life.

You've got a good bike there and it looks like you're well on the way to making it yours.  There's lots of help and ideas out here.  Get stuck on something, just ask.  Somebody will be able to assist.

Have fun and be safe. Smiley

Welcome JH! Yup parts will almost always fit, the bike has been the same for a long time. Just has a few quirks and if you read some of the posts in the tech section of the forum you will find out what they are and how to fix them.
Most often fixed are the fuel Petcock (off/on/res switch)removed and replaced with a Yamaha raptor 660 petcock, the carb diaphragm thick  washer replace, adj. airscrew (with removal of brass plug first) to get rid of the pop on shutdown and adding something to keep track of your mileage to fill up (most often at 100 miles)because there is not a trip meter or gas gage.

Nice looking bike.
