Huh    ..... setting all new records for the highest number ever, we give you the record setting BlackBerry Z10 cell phone.

No one has ever done this high a number with a single product before, ever.

Not even Microsoft's Surface RT did this much in one single quarter (although it is suspected that Microsoft split their actual final number up over 2 quarters with even more to be coming out at the end of this quarter).

Roll Eyes           $965,000,000   ..... that's a lot of zeros

Well, BlackBerry has lost so much value now that they are being bought out by an consortium of individual financial investors who will take the company private and then will immediately remove the idiotic managment that actually built 100,000 overly expensive copies of a brand NEW cellphone system without doing very much in the way of customer acceptance surveys ....

Sad thing is that even when they cut the Z10's price by half, nobody wants the phones.   Ergo the big write off.

BlackBerry is best known for keyboard driven phones and tight intergration into various business data systems.   This new phone system lacked both key elements.

Some of the Cyanogen or Paranoid crew will figure out how to reburn the ROMs on the Z10 ----  right after they get down to being 5 cents on the dollar Big Lots Christmas specials.

Cool

http://liliputing.com/2013/10/lilbits-10-02-2013-bad-news-blackberry.html

Blackberry hasn't gone private quite yet, so they have to declare their year's end costs and profits and projected year's end financial charges.

So, it has been announced publically that Blackberry will book an additional $400,000+ in "restructuring charges" and will lay off approximately 40% of all personnel by New Years.

The folks who WERE going to buy out Blackberry are now wavering on the deal as by the time the sale could go through the company will not be worth the $4.2 billion that the buy out was currently slated for.

The idea was to take the company quickly into private ownership so they wouldn't have to share these sort of gory details which would significantly affect Blackberry's share value (and total purchase value).

Because of this sort of news the current sales of new Blackberrys have suddenly dropped all over the world as right now no one really thinks Blackberry/Rim will survive with these sorts of required layoffs and 1.3+ BILLION total dollars in financial write downs.

This is against a company only currently valued at 4.2 billion dollars (and that value is rapidly dropping).

===================

Blackberry's market share is sitting there, totally available, soon to be rapidly moving over to .... who?

Microsoft, do you have a product to entice these business only users that will interface securely with all their current business systems ?????
