We don't live in a democracy, we live in a republic.

While I applaud the idea... the machine is now self aware and would fight to maintain itself. I don't know that I would want to have to vote and each and every detail that came along, and I am not wholly convinced the representative idea is broke or wrong.. it is simply corrupt.

Ideas I have toyed with- make it illegal for the federal government to give money to ANY entity subordinate to the state. PERIOD. They could  give it to the state .. but could not dictate how the money was actually spent. This returns some power to the states, which in my opinion is where the government has been stealing the rights and liberties of the general population for 100 150 years.

Require no- affiliated parties to approve any function that includes government/corporate grouping. To me, MUCH of the corruption lies here. The Government is willing to hand over authority to monitor and govern - to the group that is subjected. So Wall Street runs the SEC. Bankers run the Fed, and insurance companies run Crop insurance. Here locally, the casinos run the gambling authority.

De-couple the government from active support of parties. Alternately, re-quire at lest a subset of regulation for those entities that present candidates. Make war chests illegal.

Reverse the trend for the federal government to take more and more rights from the states.  The only time I can EVER recall the federal government NOT taking more rights was the case for Eminent Domain. The fed tossed it back saying it was totally a state issue. A GREAT DAY for states rights.  ( though I hate what my state did with it)...

& Doesnt that make ya wonder WHY?? Who is directing them? If theyreally wanna stay in office, wouldnt it be real easy? Wouldnt they just need to vote the way their people WANT them to vote? Theres more to it than voting party lines,, the party doesnt get them re elected,, so, why vote in a way that pisses off the folks back home?

Why do we vote for these crooks a second time?  And let the ones like Weinercaught red handed in the cookie jar or wherever it was at run again?

Everyone in DC is corrupt.. if they were not corrupt when they got there.. they were within months.

Ron Paul, when running for nomination was be-littled for not passing a single bill. He also was nearly always free to his constituent's.. why?? because he had said no to the power buyers so many times they just excluded him... from everything. So there you are... the power buyers have corrupted the system. You can send all the "good" politician you want ... but all will be turned... or made useless.

Jog I think a large % are complacent, as long as there's food on the table and they get to watch America's Got Talent, then get up tomorrow and do it again. That would be me if I had no children or grandchildren. I want a better, safer, warfree, better food, future for them. There's too many "I don't want to get involved now" . They just sat back quietly while we become a 3rd world country. Star and I have talked about the Civil War. My family fought to protect their home and family. They didn't have slaves and knew nothing about politics except what they heard at the local country store.Except for the slave part I'm afraid its going to happen again. The politics and news media we here are lies, wasting your time fooling with them. Conspiracy theorist know they're being lied to and are searching for the truth. Flag wavers make me puke. The greatest country in the world just killed thousands of innocent Iraqis. women and children. That's an accomplishment to be proud of.
