While world events are playing out at the G20 Summit in Russia with the Syrian crisis taking center stage, behind the scenes here in America the Obama administration continues to quietly chip away at our constitutional rights.

As I have said, we are facing a true constitutional crisis in America.  The intensity of this crisis is creating unlikely alliances in resisting the subversion of our Bill of Rights, such as the highly unusual collaboration between the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Please see my very important update below – Mat.

Jennifer,

Yesterday, an unusual alliance of two organizations emerged in a  major battle unfolding in federal court.

The NRA, normally associated with conservative causes, teamed with the ACLU, a notoriously liberal organization.  They are indeed strange bedfellows in the fight for our constitutional rights – albeit for different reasons.

The NRA filed an amicus brief supporting the ACLU’s challenge of the National Security Agency’s (NSA) phone tapping and surveillance programs. The NRA agrees with the ACLU that the NSA surveillance programs are unconstitutional.

But, the NRA takes the argument one step further: They contend that if the government has the right to use this method of unwarranted surveillance, they will at some point use a similar justification to create a national gun owner registry.

According to a Fox News report…

“The mass surveillance program threatens the First Amendment rights of the NRA and its members.

The NRA argues in the brief that it would be ‘absurd’ to think that Congress would take steps to prevent the creation of a national gun registry while simultaneously allowing the NSA to gather records that ‘could effectively create just such a registry.’

‘If programs like those currently justified by the government’s interpretation are allowed to continue and grow unchecked, they could also—contrary to clear congressional intent—undo decades of legal protection for the privacy of Americans in general, and of gun owners in particular,’ the brief states.”

++It’s all about the power grab!

President Obama is once again operating under the radar to advance his agenda for gun control thorough his use of executive actions – 25 so far this year alone.

Vice President Joe Biden declared that if Congress doesn’t advance the Obama administration’s tougher gun control measures, he will “fight for a new Congress.”

Barack Obama’s multi-front attack on the Second Amendment lends credence to concerns that he still intends to orchestrate a “full court press” on gun control using a dictatorial approach reminiscent of his ObamaCare strategy.

We must not allow these rights to be dismantled by a tyrannical president and administration with no regard for the rule of law or the checks and balances built into the framework of our Constitution and its precious Bill of Rights!

While the administration benefits from the nation’s attention being diverted to the Syrian crisis, their quiet movement to chip away at our Second Amendment rights continues unabated.

Jennifer, today we want to remind Congress that they are sworn to uphold the Constitution!
