Oh but you can.. If you have a kicker you can buy a little regulator for 20 bucks at any auto parts store.. I cant remember what it is called but you see them all the time on old mopeds and older bikes that are kickstart and still have headlights and other electrical parts

NOT A MAGNETO or POINTS....... I am not talking ignition.

Or the voltage regulator off a Kohler engine, which works great for bikes with points and originally shipped with selenium plate voltage regulators. On a bike like the Savage, unfortunately, they aren't worth 2 cents. Pull the Savage lump, mod the frame for a DR engine swap. Or a GN400/450. Even an early GS 400-500 twin.

I don't really wanna swap to a new bike I wanna do a Suzuki build just looking for an easy way to throw a kicker in.....sounds like there isn't one... I can stay with electric start I just am looking to consolidate the wiring down to tail stop start and maybe turn. I thought by going with a kicker would be the easiest way to get rid of all that extra wiring. guess not will just have to scratch my head and invent some stuff I guess thx for the input

I've been on Savage forums since 1998, and can't recall anybody successfully adding a kicker, converting to a proper generator, going with a magneto, or making points conversions that actually work.

My Savage is primarily yard art. I'm in the home stretch, maybe, of a rework that started in 2006... I cut all the "excess" wires out this afternoon to force myself to finish it up. Everything else, beside the Versy tensioner, is done or almost done.

My current "give a crap" project is a kick only, one coil/condensor/point set per cylinder 1963 Honda Scrambler turned TT race bike, that I put the lights back on. Will be tearing the engine down after harvest season to see how bad a hit my wallet is going to take. Bike's locked up tighter than a nun's knees... Roll Eyes
