Ok everyone, here he is..
This is my new son, Buster..
Isn't he cute, or handsome?
He makes me smile and laugh each
time I look at him. He has this cute
little underr bite, it makes it look as
if he is grinning all the time.
I found Buster, which was not his name
at the time, at the local humane society.
I wasn't going to get another dog after losing
John Wayne, then again I felt I could give another
dog a nice home, plenty of love and years of happiness.
I knew another large dog wasn't what I wanted, so therefore
I decided to concentrate on the smaller breeds.
Buster or Sonny as he was called there, caught my attention
right away. Also the fact that he is approximately 7 years old.
The older ones at times get overlooked for the younger ones.
I asked to spend one on one time with him. Paperwork was done,
we had our meet and greet. That went very well.. Lost of hugs and
kisses from both..
I couldn't bring him home that day as was later in the day when I had
gone there and they wanted us to bring our Doxie, Oscar over to see how
well the 2 did with a meet and greet.
So the next day (Sat) we took Oscar over and all went well with that
as well.
We had to be careful as Oscar is blind and being both were males their
was a chance the meet might not go well.
No chance of that, both guys seemed to like one another right away..
Then they tell me that Sonny (Buster) can't come home that day as he
was not neutered..
So being the next day was Sunday, it meant possibly on Monday he could
come home..
So on Sunday I rode the bike back over and spent a couple hours with him. I wanted him to have some reassurance that he was coming to his
"forever home" soon.
Oh and on his kennel it said adoption pending.
So Monday after working all night, I cleaned house and at noon got the
call, Buster was ready and I could pick him up that afternoon..
I went and bought him, new leash, collar, harness, blanket and bed. Oh also a name tag.
They had micro chipped him as well as given him his first set of shots. Being he had been a stray, no knowledge of shot history.
Flea treatment given, oh and yeah, neutered. His adoption fee was $50.
I gave them $70. A little donation never hurts..
We have had lots of laughs and many hours of enjoyment.
He loves to go for walks and is a fast walker. That suits me just fine.
I miss John Wayne daily and still have tears now and then. When that
happens, I cuddle Buster and his kisses help me thru that difficult moment.
I know John Wayne would approve and is happy I have another companion that protects me..
Well as much as he can.
He is only 13 lbs and is a Pug cross.
At times the living room looks like their are a couple of 2 legged kids instead of a 4 legged on as
Buster scatters the toys all over.
He loves to play fetch and is even crate trained. Now if we can get him
to stop chasing Charlie the cat..
