Pine goes riding in the rain!

Well not on purpose....

The family were all out of the house.. "honey-do's" done. Mom gone to a funeral... yeah! me time! What to do? go to the gun show!

The sun was bright and it had rained last night.. was hoping for a reprive from any more. The gun show cost $9 to get in.. and was VERY disappointing. lots of guns stuff... lots of knives... and a few guns.

Getting back on the bike to go home, sun still shining, and it probably never did rain at the gun show. Oh but on the way home, yeah good ole Mississippi soaker. I was able pull over at a gas station to wait out the worst of it.  But 3 hours in the dryer and my shoes are still soaked.

Anyway.. beeen there.. done that.. not my fav thing.

1973….while in the Navy and stationed on a ship in Norfolk, Virginia, I bought a new Honda CB350. I purchased it at Hyser Honda in Laurel, Maryland. Since I had almost 24 hours before I had to be back aboard my ship,  I decided to take the long way back to Norfolk, so I headed west to route 81 South.  After leaving Maryland and entering Virginia, I ran into a storm. This was no ordinary storm; this was a storm that was determined to make my life hell. I would stop under bridges or take an exit and wait awhile in restaurants.  A few miles down the road and I would be back in the heavy, lightening thunder drenching downpour, turbo wind monster again. This went on all the way to Charlottesville where I turned east. That’s where the storm decided to turn east and lead the way on thru Richmond and on to Norfolk.

I arrived soaked to the bone, and very tired, but just in time to change into my uniform and begin the days’ work. I also caught pneumonia.

What was the best thing before sliced bread?
Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot them?
How is it possible to have a civil war?
What if there were no hypothetical questions?

Huh

I might just have to go and get a new rain suit , just thinking about it !

Happens to all of us sometime or another .   The first two years I was on-my-own  , all I had was a Honda CB350 twin without a windshield , but it did have a "Bike Box" on the luggage rack.   You guessed it "Rain or Shine , Cold or Hot , didn't matter just dress for it and go on !  Smiley

Same thing happened in Yellowstone to me two days ago. It wasn't a heavy rain, but the splash from my front tire was enough to soak my hiking boots. I put a pair of bread sacks over a new pair of socks and I was good to go.

But yeah. Rain sucks.

You can put your feet up on the engine & hide them from some of that front tire splash.

I'll never forget taking my motorcycle license test in a cold November rain in Massachusetts.  I passed the test, and knew I never wanted to do that again.  Grin

Our Dragon ride turned into a "how to ride in the rain" session.

I do believe it is good to know how to ride in the rain.
That is a must here as we do get a lot of it  at times.
I never set out purposely to ride in it.
Then their have been the times I have gotten caught
in it as well.
I would much rather ride in rain than heavy fog.
We get a lot of that around the sound here.
I just take it slow and hope all my prayers are
being heard.. Smiley kim

90+ degree weather been causing pop up storms in the afternoon, so I put a coat of Rain-X on my shield coupl'a days ago. I'm kinda' like Kim. I really like to be able to see where I'm going and what's there when I get there.  Wink

I have found the refrigerator dries shoes much better than the dryer.   Huh
Yep, lay them on their sides so the opening is pointing under the door and let the heat from the condenser do its thing.    Wink
